The New Orleans Funeral is becoming increasingly popular as it very much focuses on a ‘celebration of life’. For friends and family, it can lift spirits and help make a time of sadness a more joyous and uplifting occasion to have a funeral jazz band play.
About The New Orleans Jazz Funeral
In New Orleans, the jazz band is an integral part of the New Orleans funeral. The funeral procession usually begins at the family home. We will lead a respectful, dignified parade to the local church, chapel or crematorium, performing traditional slower spirituals as friends and family pay their respects. These numbers can include ‘Just A Closer Walk With Thee’, ‘Careless Love’, ‘Precious Lord’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Abide With Me’.
During the service, we can perform your choice of hymns or wait and lead a further procession. Traditionally, In New Orleans, once goodbyes have been said, the jazz band strikes up with it’s celebratory, up-tempo numbers including ‘When The Saints’, ‘Just A Little While’, ‘Lily of The Valley’, ‘Didn’t he Ramble’.

“A quick e-mail to say a big thanks to you and the other guys in the band for playing for us yesterday. I guess it can’t be easy playing at a funeral but you guys were brilliant – respectful for the occasion and excellent music! Many of my guests commented how good you were and I will recommend you to anyone who asks. Thanks again and good luck for the future!”

“Please thank the Silk Street 4-piece band so much, they really made the day special, lighter and memorable. The tone of the music was perfect as was the delivery. The band hopped on the bus, entertaining us to exhibition road with a sing song too! Many thanks again”
“I would like to say a very big thank you for playing at our Mum’s funeral. We were all pleased and mum would have loved it. I bet she had a smile on her face when she left this world. Everyone said how lovely you were. Thanks so much guys”

“What a fantastic experience to have Silk Street lead my mum’s funeral procession with a 12 piece New Orleans style Jazz Band. Silk Street showed up in full uniform with the presence of a thousand musicians. The tiny streets of Linden in Gloucester were swinging with that awesome New Orleans sound…Silk Street captured the spirit and made it happen, beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you”
