Back in August we helped make James and Lisa’s wedding that extra bit special.
They tied the knot at the beautiful Capesthorne Hall near Macclesfield, Cheshire on the 9th August 2014. With visitors from all over the globe watching them say ‘I do’ in front of the serene backdrop of the lake, their wedding ceremony was packed with vintage tinged live music from The Shoeshop Quartet and our very own Silk Street Jazz.
Planning is the key
Lisa and James were based in New York, so we corresponded mostly by email. This was easy for us because Lisa was so organised, we just knew the wedding would go smoothly! When Lisa first enquired about us, she mentioned that James was a big Woody Allen fan and how they had both travelled to New Orleans to hear dixieland music first hand. Lisa also had a particular favourite song ‘Bourbon Street Parade’. We discussed our repertoire and Lisa sent across a list of their favourite New Orleans jazz tunes which we included in our set – we made sure Bourbon Street Parade was top of the list!
On the Day
As the red Routemaster buses drove down the driveway of the venue, we hid in the car park until all looked clear. The bridal party arrived in style in a New York Taxi and a NYPD car, which brought the Big Apple over to Cheshire! The guests knew nothing about us so, as the ceremony got under way in the garden, we snuck over without being seen. As the ceremony came to a close, we surprised guests with a lively version of ‘When The Saints’, leading them up the steps and along the gravel path to the champagne reception, whist the bridal party and close family and friends went to the chapel for the blessing. We continued to perform on the lawn as everyone sipped their drinks, nibbled on canapés and enjoyed the sunshine with our upbeat New Orleans jazz in the background. The day simply couldn’t have gone better and we were so pleased for Lisa and James.
After the big day
James and Lisa wrote us an email after the day expressing their thanks.
“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you all for the amazing music yesterday. So many people commented on how fantastic it was. They just knew it was going to be a great day full of wonderful music. The music really helped set the scene and everyone so much loved being outside in the sun listening to you. Thank you for playing our favourite New Orleans jazz songs too when we finally arrived! I hope our paths will cross again in the future. Take care and thank you so much again! It really contributed to our special day”
Lisa is even planning her birthday party “I am already planning my birthday and our anniversary parties with you in mind!”
