King’s Coronation Party – Let’s Celebrate!
Let’s face it, the whole country needs a bit of cheering up right now, doesn’t it? It’s been a rough few years – by any one’s standards. Firstly, we had to battle through the pandemic – which was so difficult for so many.
And with so many people already struggling financially and emotionally as we finally came out of the other side of covid, we went virtually head on into the cost-of-living crisis. To cap it all, in September last year we also lost somebody who had been a constant and ever-present in many of our lives – our beloved monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.
So, yes, we definitely need something to celebrate. And now the time is right to look to the future. The King’s Coronation really couldn’t have come at a better time.
King’s Coronation – What is planned?
The Coronation Weekend takes place on the weekend of the Saturday 6 May and Sunday 7 May. The Coronation itself will be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Westminster Abbey on the Saturday. We can expect the usual tradition and pageantry to shine through as it does on all royal occasions.
Sunday will see a special star-studded Coronation Concert staged at Windsor Castle. The BBC will broadcast the event live. Also on the Sunday, there will be a Coronation Big Lunch. Communities all over the country will be encouraged to come together to have fun and share food.
On Monday 8 May – an extra Bank Holiday – The Big Help Out takes place. This will invite members of the public to get involved in volunteering to support their local communities.
