Getting your corporate event entertainment right can be a challenge. After all, you don’t just want it to be ‘right’; you want it to be absolutely spot on, nailed, perfect. And that’s no mean feat. There is no single, fool-proof blueprint or template to follow that will result in your event being a roaring success. However, there are a few guiding principles that are worth bearing in mind whenever you come to plan a corporate event.

Here are 4 things you should remember about corporate party entertainment

1. Keep the formalities and talking brief

Whether it’s a launch party for a new product or an end-of-year party to thank staff for their hard work, it’s wise to keep the formalities: introductions, speeches, etcetera, brief. The clue is in the name, really: ‘party’ or ‘event’. Whichever you choose, your guests are there, primarily, to have a good time. Let them socialise, let their hair down, and enjoy the corporate event entertainment.

If you’re just going to talk to your audience, you may as well have called it a ‘work meeting’ and held it in the office!

2. Choose a theme for your corporate event

While it’s not necessary to have a clear theme for every event, it’s a good idea to at least have some sort of concept and to have clear consistency in approach and delivery. This can be as simple as using your brand’s colour scheme throughout.

However, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, our advice would be to go for it! From characters from film and television, famous pop stars, or decades through the years, there are countless brilliant party themes to choose from. Many of these will enable you to go all out and full throttle with the décor, entertainment, and the costumes. Remember, fancy dress or themed costumes are things that many people really love.

Any entertainment you have in mind should obviously match your chosen theme. For example, for a 1920s period party, an authentic jazz band isn’t just something that will set the tone, it’s really a must.

3. Consider the logistics

As with any type of event, the secret to success really comes down to effective planning. This begins with the initial brainstorming of ideas to making sure you get all the logistics right. Booking live entertainment does involve some organisation. You need to ensure that the venue can accommodate a live act. They may need some time allocated to soundcheck. Similarly, they might need a private area to set up and get ready for their performance in. Timings are running order, and such like need to be shared in advance too. These are professionals, after all. You shouldn’t expect them to just turn up and wing it.

4. Leave it to the professionals

It’s your event, and it’s completely up to you how you want it to be. That much is a given. Having said that, you should still discuss everything with a professional entertainment agency.
