Last August, we helped make James and Lisa’s wedding truly unforgettable. They tied the knot at the beautiful Capesthorne Hall, near Macclesfield in Cheshire, on 9th August 2014. Guests had travelled from all over the globe to watch them say ‘I do’. Furthermore, the serene backdrop of the lake set the scene perfectly. Live music from The Shoeshop Quartet and Silk Street Jazz completed the occasion.
Planning From New York
Lisa and James lived in New York at the time, so we corresponded mostly by email. This worked smoothly, because Lisa approached the whole project with exceptional organisation. We knew from the start that the day would run without a hitch.
When Lisa first enquired, she mentioned that James was a devoted Woody Allen fan. She also explained that they had both travelled to New Orleans to hear dixieland music first-hand. Lisa had a particular favourite song: ‘Bourbon Street Parade’. We discussed our full repertoire together. Lisa then sent across a list of their favourite New Orleans jazz tunes. We made sure ‘Bourbon Street Parade’ sat at the top.
On the Day
As the red Routemaster buses swept down the driveway, we waited in the car park. The bridal party arrived in style. A New York taxi and a NYPD car brought the spirit of the Big Apple to Cheshire. The guests had no idea we were there. As the ceremony began in the garden, we moved quietly into position. When it drew to a close, we surprised everyone with a lively rendition of ‘When The Saints’. We led guests up the steps and along the gravel path to the champagne reception. Meanwhile, the bridal party and close family headed to the chapel for the blessing.
We continued to perform on the lawn as guests sipped drinks, nibbled canapés and enjoyed the sunshine. The upbeat New Orleans jazz provided the perfect backdrop. The day, simply, could not have gone better.
Words From the Happy Couple
After the day, James and Lisa wrote to us to express their thanks:
“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you all for the amazing music yesterday. So many people commented on how fantastic it was. They just knew it was going to be a great day full of wonderful music. The music really helped set the scene and everyone so much loved being outside in the sun listening to you. Thank you for playing our favourite New Orleans jazz songs too when we finally arrived! I hope our paths will cross again in the future. Take care and thank you so much again! It really contributed to our special day.”
Indeed, Lisa had already begun planning ahead: “I am already planning my birthday and our anniversary parties with you in mind!”
